Inside Punpun, Sydney's Must-Try Sando Spot in Darlinghurst.
Is this the best Sando in Sydney?
You know when you have a craving for a food you’ve never tried? This week I’ve been craving an egg custard sandwhich, which led me to Punpun on Victoria St, Darlinghurst.
To me, Punpun is like if Above The Clouds decided to start a cafe and sell really, really good sandwiches. Upon entrance you’re met with sounds by Mac Miller, Q Tip, and A Tribe Called Quest and laid-back wooden furniture paired with pops of colour and trinkets.
Now let’s get into the Sandos. First up is the EGG, with Steamed Custard Egg, Cheese, and Chive Mayo.
All of the Sandos here are made with Saké Butter on Shokupan otherwise known as Japanese Milk Bread. The Sando was soft and buttery, and the egg was silky and flavourful. Delicious but rich.
Next up is the P.P.F.C (Punpun Fried Chicken), made with Sesame Fried Chicken, cheese, Pickled Zucchini, and Curry Mayo.
The chicken on this sandwhich was insanely juicy, and the Curry Mayo and Pickled Zucchini added a sweetness and richness to the Sando.
Now if you’re thirsty, try one of their unique coffee and tea brews, or quench with a Pocari Sweat.
Punpun in my opinion, has some of the best Sandos I’ve tried in Sydney. Find them at 249 Victoria St, Darlinghurst Wednesday to Sunday 8am - 4pm (Kitchen from 9am - 3pm).
